MOSAID Wins First Major Patent Acquisition Case

MOSAID Technologies has succeeded in gaining settlement with Infineon and its memory spin-off, Qimonda over infringements for various memory based patents. Infineon will pay MOSAID an undisclosed amount over 6 years and will receive licenses for MOSAID's complete patent portfolio.

"This is also MOSAID's first major patent acquisition, and our goal is to fully realize the value of this intellectual property over time," stated George Cwynar, President and Chief Executive Officer of MOSAID.

MOSAID has also purchased 50 patents from Infineon and Qimonda, related to a range of technologies including DRAM memory, and power management ICs, amongst others.  MOSAID will pay for these patents also over six years. However the company stated that it expects positive earnings in respect to the licensing agreement. All other litigation between the two companies is expected to be dropped.
